Monster Trucks...

Finally they are done... well as long as my OCD doesn't kick in. LOL   So my baby Boo is an avid Monster Jam fan and wanted that as his birthday theme.  I cant do anything half way :) so I made monster trucks for the kids to wear and have truck races in the back yard.  My plan is to give them all paint markers and stickers and let them decorate their own truck and then race them Tee Hee should be uber cute.
I started with boxes from work painted black or white and cut out a truck profile.

Boo had to try them out for me.
  Then I cut down my left over pizza boxes from Club Scrap as the hood and wind shield.
I used styrofoam from work (Thanks Robyn!) Cut in circles and covered with cut up trash bags as tires, and printed out wheel hubs off my computer.  Whoa - La  Monster Truck!
I will be using this really cute doubled up duct tape I found that has flames on it as straps  over the kids shoulders to keep the boxes on as they race.
So that's what I have been doing for the last week or so, now just battling the dust bunnies before the party....

Monster Jam Birthday

So my Baby Boo is in LOVE with Monster Jam and all things monster truck or Cars related.  He is so all boy!  I thought it was a phase like Thomas and trains... Nope he has been into trucks and cars for going on 2 years now I think it might stick.  When asked what he kind of birthday he wanted he promptly replied Monster Jam!  That left me scrambling to figure out what to do.  Well several brainstorming and Internet sessions later and I have a plan!  I made the invites first in my digital scrapbook program, using pictures I took at this January's Monster Jam.  I also found a cool bar code font at  DaFont .

I blacked out his name...privacy issues you know the drill.

I made sleeves for them as well by taking one of his trucks and inking up the tire and driving over the paper. The bands were made with coloring pages from the MJ website scaled down to the size I needed and colored with pencils and glitter pens.

I matched the truck on the outside to the picture of the truck on the pit pass.  there were 2 more that were Monster Mutt and Monster Mutt dalmatian but I had already given them out before I thought to take pictures.
As we were giving these out Boo asked if he was getting a pit pass since all his friends were...DOH! I hadn't even thought of it LOL Bad Mommy! So I went back to my computer and made him a "driver" pass...It's HIS birthday after all :)

once again blacked out his name...
  All the passes have hooks and cords so the kids can wear them the info on time and place is printed on the reverse.  I laminated them with standard heat laminating pouches and a craft iron.  He loves them and so do his friends.  Boo has been wearing his pass everywhere that I will let him :)
More birthday madness later.

And done!

I made my last card for Operation Write Home for a while this morning.  I promptly mailed it after taking a few quick pics of it as well. My total was 41 cards!!!!!

The papers are Club Scrap and the tree is from Create with TLC.  I hand colored the digi stamp with pencils and then sponged over it with ink from CS.  The papers are from the CS Apothecary kit.  This is my very first easel card and I am super stoked about how it came out!

The next few weeks I will be posting less as we are getting ready for my Boo's big birthday party.  I am excited to show off the invites and what I have planned for the activities!  But that's all in progress and I will post pics soon

Lattice Card

Hello all!
I am very excited to show this card to you as I LOVE how it turned out.  One of the blogs that I read regularly is Valita's Fresh Folds,  I saw this card and fell in love!  She has since done more woven front cards that I will have to try as well.  So here is my card;
I used scrap paper for the card front and my new daisy die and stamp from Heartfelt Creations.  The leaves are hand cut from scraps as well.  I added some string pearls to finish it off.
Another card to go in the box for Operation Write Home that I hope to send out this Friday :)
I am also planning a big post with all the invites and prep for my sons birthday, Lots to do!

Peacock in Blue

Some times I am completely inspired by stamps themselves.  Every since I saw this awesome freebie over at Create With TLC I wanted to use it.  After coloring with pencils I paired it with paper from DCWV.  I was too lazy to take out my sewing machine so I did  faux sewing around the edge with a paper piercing tool and a pen.  I added a little crochet lace and a die cut and stamped tag.

 I have a few challenges that I wanna try so there will be more cards to come :)   I also want to do a scrapbook page with a pick of the new puppy we have  Just wanna do it digitally and haven't had time :)
Off to battle the hoards of sand monsters and dog hair dust bunny armies.

Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge #17

Had to play along again with the ladies at Waltzing Mouse.  Here is their sketch;

Here is mine :)

I stamped all over with a Club Scrap stamp in black ink and then hand colored the flowers with pencils.  The banner is made dimensional with pop dots and the flowers are small silk flowers folded in quarters and pierced with a pearl headed pin ( the pins are embedded in the foam of one of the pop dots), with a little bow of embroidery floss to finish it off.
Not bad for 45 minutes of work :)  I am off to fight dust bunnies and the laundry monster that has taken over my house this weekend. Have a great day!
