Plans for the New Year

My plan for the year is to blog more LOL, catch up on my scrap booking, continue my card making for OWH, try more card challenges, and finish all those projects I have been hoarding in my bottom drawer.
In the coming weeks there will be posts of blank scrapbook pages as I get ready for the PSL over at Club Scrap.  As well as Valentines day projects for my Baby Boo's class. Lot's coming up stay tuned!

Snow in Florida

LOL no really! No pictures just links today.  I am making snow flakes today as my Boo has a cold and needs to stay inside.  I found 2 super awesome sites with printable templates!  The first is Marcels kid crafts LOVE the snow men and the trees and candles. Christmas Projects

I finally finished and delivered the projects I made for my Boo's school friends and teachers.  I made explosion boxes for the teachers and Snowman Soup for the children. 

Lets start with the teachers.  This first box is fairly simple made from green card stock and DCWV pattern paper. the gingerbread people I found a year or so ago and cant for the life of me find the link again. Sorry about the out of focus photos, I was doing this quickly before school.



The next box is made with DCWV glitter paper and hand stamped with snow flakes on the interior. The "cookies" were colored in PSE to look like they were frosted they are from Elizabeth Dulemba.  The doors, windows, and roof of the box are a patterns that I found at Little Paper Shop.  The house on the interior I found at Twelve 22, I then colored it with pencils.  I wanted to design one myself but ran out of time, and hey why reinvent the wheel?

I also colored a stone path and threshold from the gate to the house.  Both boxes were given with gift cards inside to Boo's teachers.

I then made "Snowman Soup" packets for the kids. Super simple and so much fun!  I designed a bag topper using images from Meljens Design here and here and snowflakes from my computer scrapbook program.

I made 24 of these each containing :

3 Hershey's kisses

1 bag of cocoa mix

5 mini snowman marshmallows

1 peppermint stick

Scrapbook pages...

Long time no blog...

Been soooo busy!  WARNING LONG POST LOTS OF PICTURES...
I finished up my presents for my MIL and FIL made a girly birthday card and have been busy decorating my house for the holidays.
  First the present for my FIL.  I made a CD Case pencil holder using the same directions as in this post.

The only difference is the base.  I did not make a tray as I know my FIL won't be changing the pics.  I made a base of cardboard from a cracker box and covered it with black card stock.  I did the same for the X shaped divider, then hot glued them to the cube.

I made my MIL a card set and made mini magazine holders for them and their envelopes.  I found several tutorials but none were for 5x7 cards only smaller so I used several sheets of "ugly" 12 x 12 paper and figured out a pattern that would fit my cards.  Then I used purple and white card stock to make 2 files adhered them together using the side of one base under the other box, then glued a base of black card stock to finish off the bottom.  I then matted decorative glitter card stock from DCWV on the purple scraps from the top of the box to finish off the bottom.

And all together...

I forgot to take a pic of the birthday card but what do ya do????

My lovely friend Krisa nominated me for a RAK over at the TLC blog and I am so excited as I now can get some more sentiments for my OWH cards!!! I am thinking maybe some anniversary and Easter sentiments.... We shall see:)  OK that's all for now  I am making teacher gifts this week so look for more posts before Sunday!

Crazy Week!

Working on several projects at once is killing me!  Gotta just focus on one and get it done!  I have a few more wedding cards in the works, another CD pencil holder, and a little girls princess themed birthday card.  Hoping to have a post by Monday night as I will have some time to myself on Monday then lots of Christmas decorating to do :)

Happy 90th Birthday

Sometimes in your life a person touches you and you are changed forever.  One such person in my life was Mrs Moshier.  I grew up in a military family often far away from family and grandparents. Sometimes it can get really lonely.  When we moved to  Texas we met the Moshier family who instantly and firmly welcomed myself and my family into theirs.  I remember some of my best memories of childhood in their backyard, often playing right alongside their "real" grandchildren. Mrs Moshier introduced me to one of my true loves; baking.  I remember gathering pecans from the trees in her backyard for pies, eating as many as we collected. She helped teach me manners, and never once laughed about me spending a whole summer in a tree with a book. Though we moved many times our families always kept in touch.  This week Mrs Moshier is turning 90 and I just couldn't make her a card I wanted to make her something as special as she is. So in my searches to find the perfect thing I came across the link toThe Magic Boxes website.  I have made these before for gift card holders using this tutorial from Debbie.  This time I altered the box so the sides were 4 inches square and used left over plastic from laminating my sons birthday invites.  I have found various tutorials for making roses on the web but my favorite is this one by Helen.  I have altered it a little by using 3 different size punches but still use this basic technique.
With out further ado on to the box....

Pink paper is Club Scrap that I embossed with my BigShot. The butterflies are cut from K & Co paper that covers the top and insides of the box.  The bow attaches to a tag that is tucked under the top of the box.

I cut around the wings of the butterfly and elevated them to give some dimension and made cream colored roses as an accent throughout.

When you open the box roses and butterflies spring to life.

More Wedding Cards!

More wedding cards! 

I took some DCWV paper and layered it with black and cream heart shaped pearl brads and a ribbon I saved off a chocolate box ( You don't wanna know how long I have been hoarding holding  on to it)

I spent way too much time trying to find this paper but I am pleased with the results;  I CASE'd this from Ashley Newell I just found her blog and love her CAS style!

Creamy tan cs used for the base and paper from DCWV. Sentiment was computer generated after scanning in the paper to color match the ink.

My favorite of all I CASE'd from this lovely card at SCS.

I altered it a bit to fit my materials.  Digi stamp that I got from somewhere, (I really need to start keeping better track if I am gonna do this blog thing) I printed it out twice and cut a cluster of flowers from one and popped it up with foam dots on the other. I added a slight shimmer to the paper with some glimmer mists, and tiny stick on pearls.  I dry embossed the black layer with my Big Shot and punched the silver border with a Martha punch.  The silver "ribbon" is a small strip of silver paper.  I added a double bow as I only have thin ribbon I think it came out fabulous!  The sentiment was computer generated.

Valentine's for OWH

So today I have some valentines' cards for OWH Just playing around with various images that I have found on the web.

DCWV papers and letter stamps from the dollar bin at Target. The cute little mouse is by Alison ( Sorry don't remember where I got it and cant make out her last name on the stamp it's A something.) 

Stamp is by Bugaboo, background paper was stamped with various shades of pink and paper ribbon is a Fiskars punch I have had forever.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, dragons, this cutie is by an artist unknown  paper is from my stash.



Background paper is stamped with a Club Scrap stamp from the Birds of a Feather Jr kit then spritzed with  glimmer mists.  Border is a Martha punch.

All stamps were hand colored with pencils.

That's the Valentines for now next post will be more wedding cards.  I made one yesterday that I am in LOVE with!

Christmas Gifts

So I started working on Christmas gifts last week and since my in laws don't watch my blog I can post their stuff here :)  At least what I have in progress LOL.  For my MIL who is a bridal consultant I thought that I would make an assortment of congratulations cards for her to give to her brides.  On that vein here are 2 cards that I have finished today.

All the white layers are embossed card stock framed in black, the decorative border is a Fiskars punch.  The Wedding cake is a sticker from Martha embellished with pearls.  I then added a black ribbon layered on top of a silver one.  Inside is lined with white paper and a Congratulations on your wedding sentiment.  The dimensions are 5 1/4" x 7 1/4". I CASE'd this design from someone over at SCS but cant find their link for the life of me.  Now on to my favorite of the day;

Where to start???? I follow the blog of the extremely talented fiber artist Stefani Tadio This design is inspired by her work.  I used cream colored floss on cream colored card stock and  stitched a star pattern.  I then added pearls to the points and intersections.  I used my stamp and flower dies from Heartfelt Creations. I stamped the flowers with Dune ink which I also edged the layers of the card with.  I placed the star on a layer of velum that I embossed with my BigShot .  I mounted that on another layer of cream colored card stock and used pearls to cover the glue dots :)   I punched a left over strip of velum with a Fiskars border punch  and mounted that on the back of another strip of card stock stamped with dune ink and embossed with strait  lines to frame the sentiment. The dimensions of this card are 5"x5".

Operation Write Home Valentine's Blog Hop!

I made 3 special for the hop I find that I am a CAS card maker and scrapper so not a lot of frills here LOL

For the background I took scraps from my stash and did a herringbone technique I learned over at Club Scrap.  The strips are 1 inch wide and held down with strips from my Xyron.  The sentiment was computer generated and I cut heart out of some of the background papers. I couldn't of course do just one (fair warning this technique is crazy addictive! It will have you saving the littlest scraps.)  I think this one is my favorite that I have made so far;

The image is free from Elizabeth O. Dulemba and was colored with pencils, once again the sentiment was computer generated.  Last but not least I decided to try a new technique, Iris folding, with non-traditional Valentine's colors.

Paper is wrapping paper and scraps from my stash.  I like how it turned out I may try this again some time :)

CD Jewel Case Pencil Holder

I found the coolest project over at Club Scrap it is a pencil holder made from old CD jewel cases!  This is the best gift for my Hubbie (also know as "Gadget Boy") who is a computer geek and has EVERYTHING!  I found a video on You Tube that has step by step instructions and dimensions Here.  First I made 4 pages digitally.

The fourth side is a New Orleans Saint's Superbowl logo as my hubbie is a rabid fan. Assembled it all looks like this;

I will be making a divider for the center probably in an X shape I also reinforced the base tray with glossy tape.  Next time I will also make the inserts with 8 1/2 x 11 landscape pages rather than 12x12. (Then shrunk on the computer of course :)

Coming Soon

New post coming soon. Just finished my Christmas cards yesterday, now I am hunting up tutorials for the gifts that I want to make.  I love homemade gifts, don't know if anyone else does but I do!  I will post pics next week of the cards sooner if I have time :)

The crazyness of Boo's birthday weekedn is over!!!! Yay! he and his friends had a blast.  Now I have signed up for a blog hop look for it on Nov 13

Monster Trucks...

Finally they are done... well as long as my OCD doesn't kick in. LOL   So my baby Boo is an avid Monster Jam fan and wanted that as his birthday theme.  I cant do anything half way :) so I made monster trucks for the kids to wear and have truck races in the back yard.  My plan is to give them all paint markers and stickers and let them decorate their own truck and then race them Tee Hee should be uber cute.
I started with boxes from work painted black or white and cut out a truck profile.




Boo had to try them out for me.

  Then I cut down my left over pizza boxes from Club Scrap as the hood and wind shield.

I used styrofoam from work (Thanks Robyn!) Cut in circles and covered with cut up trash bags as tires, and printed out wheel hubs off my computer.  Whoa - La  Monster Truck!

I will be using this really cute doubled up duct tape I found that has flames on it as straps  over the kids shoulders to keep the boxes on as they race.
So that's what I have been doing for the last week or so, now just battling the dust bunnies before the party....
